Discussing sexuality with children can be difficult for many

parents, but it is important to teach your children about sex

before they begin to explore on their own.

It is important to teach children about the dangers of having unprotected sex, so they can take precautions to avoid sexually transmitted diseases.

Pregnancy
The responsibility of a baby is a huge burden for both the girl and the boy involved. If children are aware of the ramifications of their actions, they are more likely to think about them more seriously.

Abstinence and Religion
If your faith discourages sex until marriage, reinforce those values and model religious practices at home, so that your child will want to emulate you. Talk to your clergy if you feel that your values might conflict with your child's actions. Reinforce your feelings about abortion.

Emotional Issues: Being Approachable
You want your children to feel comfortable coming to you with issues and problems. A positive conversation about sex will strengthen the bond between you.

Promotes Good Health
Medical issues can arise when children begin to have sex. It is important for them to be aware of the importance of regular physical examinations. They should never ignore pain or problems in their private areas.
